Vasectomy is available at YKHC.

Vasectomy is a permanent and irreversible sterilization option for males.

For a patient expressing interest in this procedure, the provider can provide general information in clinic. See here for more information about the procedure.

At time of referral, the patient and referring clinician will complete the HHS Sterilization form accessible here. Provider enters order “Refer to Surgery-Vasectomy.” Patient will receive phone call from surgeon to discuss procedural consent, reiterate details of procedure, and affirm patient’s desire for permanent sterilization. The patient will then receive phone call from case manager to schedule procedure. On day of procedure, the patient presents to Surgery Dept. Vasectomy is a 15-30 minute procedure. Done with local anesthesia and sedation in the OR. There is potential for this to become an office procedure at some point. Three months after vasectomy, patient presents to YKHC lab for post-vasectomy semen analysis. Surgeon will follow up results.

If negative, the patient is cleared to rely upon vasectomy for contraception.
