Pediatric Critical Care Guide

Infants with fevers 100.4° or greater are at risk for sepsis and meningitis. Any infant with fever who appears ill, i.e. is irritable, lethargic, tachycardic, tachypneic, vomiting or has a rash needs to be medevaced to Bethel ASAP.

  • Give IM ceftriaxone at 100mg/kg in the village while awaiting a medevac.
  • If patient in SRC, obtain blood culture prior to Ceftriaxone. Have the blood culture sent in with the patient.
  • Please consult peds on call for any questions or assistance in managing these patients.
